Celebrating our amazing recruiters on National Healthcare Recruiter Recognition Day.
The relationship between a medical recruiter and the traveling professional is unique, mutually beneficial for sure, and the best ones are built on trust. The way we see it, the recruiter takes care of the traveler, so the traveler can take care of their patients.
If you’ve read any of our Featured Traveler blogs, you’ll notice a recurring theme: each traveler talks about their recruiter like a long-time friend, even if it’s their first assignment. Because a Triage recruiter knows it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and they’re in it for the long haul.
We’re pretty proud to hear those we serve think about our team like that. Today, on National Recruiter Day, we’re going to share a few more reasons why a Triage recruiter rocks.
They’re There for You
You could think of your recruiter as your agent. They work with the hospitals/facilities on your behalf. They match you with travel assignments that fit what you’re looking for, give you all the details, check your credentials and submit your resume. For some recruiters, that’s where it ends. But, for a Triage recruiter, that’s where it begins.
From there, they check in on your assignment, call to chat, see what kind of shenanigans you’ve been getting into. There may or may not be some vicarious living happening, but hey, it’s a mutually beneficial relationship, like we said. A Triage recruiter truly enjoys sharing your journey with you, looks forward to seeing photos of your travels, and of course, if there’s a dog photo or two, all the better. But, most importantly, they’re there for you. Traveling can be a stressful journey, there’s no doubt, and a Triage recruiter is sensitive to that, because they care about you and your well-being, as cheesy as that may sound. We’re from the Midwest, that “Nebraska-nice” mentality is ingrained.
Furthermore, these check ins provide your recruiter with feedback on what you’re wanting out of your next assignment. The more they get to know you, and vice versa, the better they’ll become at finding you exactly what you want. Which brings us to our next reason why Triage recruiters rock…
They Listen, They Respond
At Triage HQ, we train our recruiters to listen to what you’re saying, not what they want to hear. They’re listening to hear what you need for the most fulfilling traveling career. Which sounds basic, but you’d be surprised how often we hear from travelers that they’ve felt “like another number” with other agencies. At Triage, we keep a lower recruiter-to-traveler ratio for that reason—so they have the time to build a relationship with their travelers and can answer all the questions they have about the process. It can be confusing as a new traveler, we know.
Traveling nurse, Ali, who has been on Team Triage for five and a half years now, told us she “chose Triage because they treated me like a valuable team member, and not just a number. I never felt like I was being swindled or pressured and always felt respected,” which gives us heart palpitations…in the best way!
Not only does a Triage recruiter give you the answers to the questions you have, we give it to you straight, without the industry jargon. It doesn’t matter if you have two or 200 questions, we’ll tell you what we know, we’ll tell you what we don’t know, and we try to know more than we don’t at all times. When you have the knowledge, that gives you the power. You’ll never have to worry about feeling taken advantage of—or any bait-and-switch tactics that have, unfortunately, been used in this industry—because you’ll understand every step of the process. And yeah, sometimes that means the gig won’t work out, and that’s okay, there will be others. We’re not trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, even if it were possible.
As Ray Petty, our radiology manager stated, “what makes Triage different is our people and their willingness to do what is right even when it may not be the easiest choice.”
We like to say, we’ll be real with you so you can be ready for what’s next. Being real is a two-way street, though. In order to ensure you get to the places you want to go, a Triage recruiter appreciates the same realness from their travelers. They want honesty. Brutal honesty. That kind of brutal honesty a good friend gives you when you ask for advice.
And, like a good friend, they’ll provide suggestions and give you scenarios to think about so you make informed decisions, not decisions driven solely by wanderlust. Hey, we’re aware of how intoxicating wanderlust is—being in Nebraska, we live that life! Especially when helping you find housing and things to do in your new locale. Which, a Triage recruiter does, in fact…
They Do it All
Triage recruiters help you with your job search, your housing, your travel to/from assignment and everything in between. We like to call it a “one-stop-shop” experience. It’s one we’ve found travelers prefer instead of being bounced around from department to department, not sure of who to call with what concern.
At Triage, your recruiter does it all as your single point of contact. Have an emergency at 3 a.m. and won’t be to work for your 7 a.m. shift? Have a question about your paycheck? Who ‘ya gonna call? Your recruiter.
“I’ve had my travelers call me at all times of the day or night, reasons ranging from their apartment being flooded and they need a new rental, to family emergencies and facility ratio concerns,” Patty, Triage laboratory recruiter, told us. “I’ve even told my traveler, who didn’t get along with her supervisor, to call me first before flying off the handle, and she would. She even finished the assignment and extended for eight weeks because the gig was solid, she just didn’t like her supervisor.”
What do ‘ya know, a Triage recruiter could very well be your life-coach/therapist, too! They really do it all, folks. But you know what, don’t take it from us….
Hear it Straight from our Travelers
Triage recruiters aren’t just in this for a paycheck. Believe us, there are easier ways to earn a paycheck. The players on Team Triage’s bench all have different reasons for choosing to be a recruiter, but many of them have a personal reason, or have seen the Triage difference, and it’s the type of company that aligns with their values and morals.
We’re going to do a bit of bragging because our recruiters deserve it: Triage continues to win awards that are voted on by you, the traveler, and are a reflection on our amazing recruiters. We also have hundreds of testimonies from Triage travelers on why Triage recruiters “rock harder than a Mötley Crüe show.” Yes, that’s an exact quote from a traveler.
“I choose to rally with Triage because I have the best company and the absolute best, and I mean BEST, recruiter in the world. They have stood by me through some very difficult situations that have hit me in the face as a traveler. Each time, they have been my champions, giving me more support than any hospital I’ve ever worked for. Four years in and I know for sure that I will never work for another travel company!” –Sarah T, Travel RN
“I chose Team Triage because after talking with several recruiters from several different companies I felt like Triage had MY best interest at heart. They made me feel like I was making the right choice and had the answers to all my questions without hesitation. I could not be happier with my decision.” –Michael W, Travel RN
“Taking the steps to becoming a travel nurse is pretty intimidating. When I started looking for a travel company there were so many recruiters reaching out, but only one company took the time to explain how traveling worked to me. Triage! I had so many questions about the process and my awesome recruiter, Devon, was so patient explaining everything. I trust Devon and Triage completely because they’re always upfront and honest about various travel gigs. Now I will call my recruiter just to small talk!” –Larissa E, Travel RN
“I choose to STAY with Triage because I find them the most honest and trustworthy of all the companies I’ve worked with in 14 years. Even going above and beyond!” –Stacie R, Travel RN
