Using animated maps, Waze will help you find the best route to your destination.
Ulmon – Have you ever been in a new city and started wondering where to go and what to do? Ulman will point you in the right direction. With their detailed maps, you’ll get tips on attractions, restaurants, hotels, nightlife and other interesting things to do.

Fandango – Fandango’s app helps you find movies and showtimes in your area. It also provides reviews from critics and fans on all showings. If you sign up for an account, you can purchase tickets through the app as well. One of the best features is, they allow movie tickets to be returned or credited to your account for future use in case you can’t make it!
MeetUp – MeetUp lets members organize around similar interests and well, MeetUp! Once a member, you’re able to create and join groups around your interests. Users can organize events and group members can RSVP and view a list of those who have RSVP’d. The website offers a more robust user interface, but the app has most of the same features. This app can be useful for a traveler to find groups who share similar interests in their new locations.
Happy Hour Finder – This app helps you find local happy hours that are near you. From food to drinks this app has it all!
Flights, Hotels and Accommodations
Hipmunk – Hipmunk compares the top travel sites to find the best hotel and flight deals. You’ll find great destinations, save up to 60% off on hotels with ‘tonight deals,’ sign up for free flight fare alerts and book instantly within the app. This app is just like an automated travel agent!
Tripit – Tripit takes all of your travel information and creates an itinerary for you. You forward all of your email confirmations to Tripit, and the app does the rest!
Medscape – Medscape might be the most robust app of its kind. There are many tools within the app that allow you to look up things like, medications, dosages, what happens when drugs are combined and vital patient information. The app has medication calculators, image collections and more! It also has a robust medical news service, so you can stay up to date with the latest information.
Epocrates – Epocrates is another great app for drug reference, identification and interaction. It also provides medical news and research information. It is often cited as the best app of it’s kind, but that reference is to the premium service which costs $175.00 per year.
Nursing Central – Nursing Central helps you find information on diseases, tests, drugs and procedures. Its “grasp” features allows you search the Medline/PubMed database. The app is loved by many traveling nurses because it looks at things from a nurse’s perspective. The app isn’t free, however it has many different payment options to choose from.
