While we know that there are lots of travelers who work hard all year so they can take time off during the holidays, we know there’s another group that works throughout the winter holidays. If you’re working over the holidays, we see you and appreciate all you do. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get into the holiday spirit while off the clock. Here are a few ways you can add some holiday spirit, even if you’re in a rental.
Buy Yourself Some Décor
Holiday decorations don’t have to be expensive, which is ideal if you’re on the road because you may not want to pack them up and bring them home. But a small tree, some ornaments and lights can be found for under $50 at most big box stores. Then, if you don’t have the space to bring them home and don’t want to pay to ship it, you can always donate it after the holidays.
Get Some Holiday Treats
If you’re in a hotel and can’t bake, join a local food group on social media. Often times you’ll be able to find bakers who sell delicious treats like cookies and holiday candy. You’ll be able to enjoy homemade treats, without all the fuss about baking them yourself.
If you can’t find any local bakers, consider treating yourself with some mailed treats. Ask family members to send you some so you can have a taste of home.
Take Some Time for Yourself
Lastly, make sure that you take some time for yourself. Treat yourself to a holiday movie marathon and order take out, or take yourself out for a fancy holiday meal and then take a drive to look at light displays. These small acts can really help put you in the holiday spirit.
