The Joint Commission and Triage

The Joint Commission is a U.S. non-profit that works to accredit hospitals and health care. The Commission’s goals are “to continuously improve health care for the public, in collaboration with other stakeholders, by evaluating health care organizations and inspiring them to excel in providing safe and effective care of the highest quality and value.”

Sounds great, but what exactly does it mean? Basically, The Joint Commission works to promote patient safety. For more than 70 years, The Joint Commission has been a global driver of quality improvement and patient safety in healthcare. The Commission believes that all people should always experience the safest, highest quality and consistently excellent healthcare.

The Joint Commission and Triage go way back and Triage has been an accredited agency since 2010.

How Does The Joint Commission Affect You as a Travel Nurse?

Being The Joint Commission accredited means you’re working for an organization that’s committed to qualitysafety and ethics

  • Our RNs have opportunities to work in top-quality facilities across the country with one main objective: providing the best patient care possible.
  • Employing comprehensive credentialing standards and practices to ensure the safety and ethical treatment of all our traveling professionals, you can rest easy knowing we have your back.

How Does The Joint Commission Affect Patients?

Our The Joint Commission gold seal of approval tells the facility we mean business. Good business. The kind that comes with an official acknowledgment that we meet (or exceed) health care industry standards. And every year, Triage goes through an annual review to make sure that we’re always up to par. We work hard to make sure we’re exceeding the standards from The Joint Commission.

  • To the hospital, it means they know we’re not sending scrubs to fill their scrubs. They’re getting the most talented professionals available to meet their staffing needs.
  • To the patients, it means they can rest easy knowing their nurse is fully capable of caring for them while they heal.

Much like the “How’s My Driving?” bumper sticker on a semi, if there are any concerns or questions about the quality of care provided by any of our staff, please contact us and ask for Human Resources.

You can also contact The Joint Commission directly—email the grievance to [email protected]. We will not permit any disciplinary action or retaliation against any employee or client who voices a concern with The Joint Commission.
