Nurses are amazing, and words cannot describe everything they do to help cure us in our times of need. That’s why we’re taking a look at all that nurses do in a typical day. Nurses aren’t just a doctor’s assistant or someone who comes in to administer medication during hospital stays – they are so much more!
Take a look at the many hats each and every nurse wears in a day. You might be surprised by their prowess.
Caregiver
If you’ve ever stayed a few days at the hospital, or even during a check up, you know that the actual visit with your doctor is usually very brief. In fact, the person you see most is your nurse! They are there to take vitals, administer medicine and make sure all your questions are answered. Nurses are the ultimate caregivers and always make it a priority to go above and beyond all to help and support their patients. It is indeed remarkable to think of the capabilities of every nurse.
Educational Support
Even if you’ve never been hospitalized, you’re not thinking about whether your nurse is a staff nurse or one who found travel nurse jobs and came to help the hospital. However, nurses are here to save the day! Doctors don’t always take the time to explain every procedure you endure. Often times, that leaves it up to nurses to become educators for their patients. Nurses help explain and soothe any concerns a patient may have.
In addition to this, nurses also provide a wealth of information to those they work with. Doctors, interns and medical personnel turn to nurses for information on their patient’s progress and even advice on diagnoses. Nurses are the core of knowledge in any facility, from operating the records system to locating necessary medication.
Overall Healthcare Provider
We’re not afraid to say that nurses are a pivotal ingredient in being an ultimate healthcare provider. This goes outside the realms of just going through the normal daily tasks. When things go awry and emergency care is needed, nurses are usually the first ones on the scene.
“Nurses serve their patients in the most important capacities. We know that they serve as our first lines of communication when something goes wrong or when we are concerned about health.” – Lois Capps
Nurses are, and will always be, the first line of defense when it comes to emerging health issues. They are the ones answering a patient’s call for help, they are often the first responders in a facility and they always provide necessary tools and support to doctors and patients. They’re important for a speedy, seamless recovery.
Maybe you are a nurse and came to this post for a little reminder of just how important you are to the world. If that’s the case, from Triage Staffing to you:
