U.S News and World Report recently released its list of the top careers in healthcare. These jobs are in careers that have the greatest hiring demand, but analysts took it further, using future job prospects, wage potential, employment, job safety and stability and work-life balance.
For the third year in a row, nurse practitioner earned the number one spot throughout all categories. In the healthcare list, other careers in the top 15 include:
- Physician assistant
- Speech language pathologist
- Respiratory therapist
- Nurse anesthetist
- Occupational therapist
- Dental hygienist
- Psychiatrist
- Ophthalmic medical technician
- Oral and maxillofacial surgeon
- Anesthesiologist
- Registered nurse
- Diagnostic medical sonographer
- Physical therapist
- Orthotist and prosthetist
