There are a lot of people out there that would love to travel and get paid to do it! There are also many career fields that allow people to travel, explore and create their own adventures all across the world. One in particular is by being a traveling medical professional. When you become a traveler you are able to see the world while also having a career, which for many of us is a huge bonus.

Let’s dive into what it takes to be a traveler, the benefits and how to select the perfect place for your next adventure!

What Does It Take?

First and foremost, a traveler must have a license, be certified or be willing to work on location specific certifications and they should be passionate about their profession. A perfect candidate is someone with a strong passion for traveling, wants to create their own adventures and someone willing to relocate to experience all of this (usually a few times a year). If you’ve been able to check all of the above, then you’re on your way to one of the most exciting and rewarding careers out there.

Our Traveler, Krysti, recently featured as our Traveler of the Month has been traveling a total of over 15 years. When asked “What is your greatest accomplishment in your field?” she replied, “I am most proud of becoming registered in Abdomen, OB/GYN, and Vascular Ultrasound. Hard work pays off.” Krysti has had many adventures and loves what she does, which is why she has been traveling for so long!

“Be open and flexible to trying new adventures! Soak up each experience and never stop learning to further yourself and travel journey. As Susan Sontag says, “I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.” – Mandy Lofgren, Senior Recruiter Triage Staffing

Selecting A Place To Adventure

A Traveler is always looking forward to their next adventure, but that’s not to say that they aren’t enjoying their current assignment! The nice thing about being a Traveler with a company like Triage, is that there are always a plethora of open positions that are available.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says that 1.2 million vacancies will emerge for registered nurses between 2014 and 2022. And that’s not including all of the other traveling professions that are available, like therapy, medical lab, and rehab.

When thinking about your next assignment, see what positions are available first. Though your recruiter will always keep you in the loop on awesome opportunities that are available, based on their knowledge of your skills and desired places you would love to travel to. Most staffing agencies will have a list of their allied and travel nurse jobs listed on their website. At Triage, we are always updating our available positions as well as sending them out in our monthly Hot Jobs email to all of our travelers.
